Here’s how you can take advantage of text messages in your business.

Many agents try to keep in touch with leads and clients by giving them a call, but there may be a better way to use your phone. Today I’ll be talking about why texting is often a simpler but far more effective option than making phone calls.

Buyers and sellers are reaching out to agents earlier than they used to—we’re talking six to 12 months in advance. Often, they don’t necessarily want to talk to someone over the phone. However, they’re usually receptive to getting text messages, which are less invasive and allow people to choose whether to respond.

“If you’re spending a lot of time making calls, try using text messages to your advantage instead. ”

I’ve found that video texts work especially well—I usually send a quick introduction thanking the person for their inquiry. People tend to trust people who they’re familiar with and can put a face to. When you first meet someone in person, they have to get used to who you are, how you look, and what your message is. By sending a video, though, you’ve already overcome some of these hurdles and built familiarity.

Text messages are also much quicker than dialing numbers, waiting for someone to pick up, and leaving voicemails. There are some great systems out there that allow you to send bulk text messages, but I don’t recommend doing more than 50 to 100 at a time. You don’t want to spam people, and you want to have the ability to follow up with the people who respond.

If you’re spending a lot of time making calls, try using text messages to your advantage instead. And as always, if you have any other questions about building your business or would like more information, feel free to reach out to me. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
